From Philip Gulliver - (this came in by email, not sure why it didn't post, so I'm reposting here:)

Hi, I'm Noor Habib, from Germany. I don't know when I first heard of Shamcher, but his name kept cropping up in all sorts of connotations. So it was really good to get more 'solid' knowledge of his being and his doings. His fantastic reliance on his intuition and his contact to the Universal. Thank you Carol for getting this together.

this one came in to me via email:

Yes! I would very much like to dance with all of you and to continue to dance with Shamcher. My name is Kuan yin Cindy Pujos-Michel and I live in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. I forever owe a debt of love and gratitude to Shamcher for his idea of starting an annual Sufi retreat in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. The retreat, named Rocky Mountain Sufi Camp came about in the early 1980's and continued on until 2001. This coincided with the beginnings of the Canadian Sufi Movement, a group dedicated to the Universal Sufi teachings of Pir-O-Murshid Inayat Khan. I never met Shamcher as he passed away the year the first Camp in the Rockies began but I have followed his words and thoughts ever since.

I'll start. I'm Carol, and I now live on Salt Spring Island in BC in Canada. I can't begin to describe the impact connecting with Shamcher had on my life. I'd done a lot of reading and had been introduced to the Orange Volumes of Inayat Khan, but the first Sufi I ever met was Shamcher! So many years ago now., but vivid as if it were today. It makes me happy to send out bits from Shamcher's writings with you all, and I always appreciate hearing when one of these hits home for you!

Bahar Watkins from central Illinois, here. I'm a newbie Sufi (initiation in 2013), at least on the surface. I don't remember where I came upon the bulletin, Carol, but I immediately felt my dear friend, the Spirit of Guidance, at work. There is always something that winks at me in what you present. Thank you.

Hi! I’m Hakim in suburban NYC, living close to 14.6 million of my favorite people. I have great affinity with Inayat Khan, and the silsila forwards and backwards (and upside down.) And Jesus and Muhammad and the daily prayers and wazifa practice. I am working on Ya Tawwab Ya Wadud, a turning from the pain toward a most loving Creator. Toward the One. 🙏🏼🎼📿

Hi, I'm Tatyana Jamila from Yekaterinburg, Russia. First time I heard about Shamcher actually through this bulletin last year, when someone in our healing sangha had shared one of the (probably first) issues. The clarity and depth of Shamcher's texts and the stories that had been told has appealed to me. Thank you, Carol, this bulletin is an amazing opportunity for me to become acquainted with Shamcher and his views/teachings which are often serve as guidance to me

Like Carol, I had read various books (Idries Shah, Gurdjieff, Arberry and the other Oxford dons) but I hadn’t personally met a ‘real Sufi’. Thus my encounter with Shamcer was the first Sufi that I met with face to face and that meeting has reverberated through my life.

Lately I have found myself reflecting on the group of folks around the Salish Sea who were deeply touched by Shamcher, either directly or once removed. I’m sensing that we’re connected with each other through Shamcher and perhaps we have work to do together.

Thank you Carol for sharing this conversation and the material from the archives. It’s precious to me and other folks.

Yours in friendship

Tomas Chaitanya

Hi. I’m Wadud (Henry) from Pittsford, NY - near Rochester. I never met Shamcher but felt him through Shahabuddin Less and Iqbal Lewis. I then read his writings and fell in love. I am inspired by his wisdom and power, his love, and his no nonsense practicality when it comes to dealing with spiritual organizations. I include what I learn from his legacy in my teachings and guidance and love the Bulletin which i highly recommend to others. Thanks!

Hi, I'm Aziza, living in Victoria, BC. I met Shamcher in 1975 and have a couple of letters he wrote to me. Carol, I gave copies of them to a mutual friend for you. Did you ever receive them? If not, I'll send copies to you. Shamcher is an everlasting source of truth, but nothing I could write could describe him. Thanks for these reminders.

Hello, I'm Khabira-I live near Nelson, in SE British Columbia. When I started reading some writings of Shamcher I was deeply moved and wished I had been able to meet him in person. I just love everything I learn about and from him and so appreciate that Carol sends out the Bulletin. Right now here we are in a warming period after a fairly long arctic cold front and amazing amounts of snow. So at the moment I'm sort of overwhelmed. I do get involved with the many causes that interest me in this world of many challenges now. A lot of my focus is on Indigenous rights and rights of Earth. I want to finish a piece on my blog and get back to doing more music.

Hi from Seattle WA.

I first met him in early 1976, and at first couldn't understand what this old duffer was doing hanging-out with a bunch of hippies in white cotton. Later I learned that he was one of the last surviving direct students of Inayat Khan, so I figured he might know something.

Sometime later, maybe a year, I was having a conflict with the couple who had recently taken-on leadership of the local Sufi center. I called him and we arranged to meet. Without first hearing my complaint, he said, "Let's sit in silence for a moment," and we did.

Then he turned to me and said, "I have the same problem with then that you do. So look... you've enrolled in an accredited course of shipbuilding. No one's going to listen to you until you have demonstrated that you know what you're talking about, so do what's required, suffer the guff, get your degree... and then make your contribution."

So I did. Probably the best advice I ever received from anyone besides "don't sleep with someone crazier than you."

My name is Alita and I am a long time Murid living in the foothills of Western Mass. In the early years of the Abode we began Omega institute. Murshid Shamcher was invited as a Teacher in residence for its 3 rd summer (early on we used the Bennington Vt. Campus).

The world of light was opened to me from that meeting on.💛

Hi from Port Townsend, Washington. I memorably met Shamcher in February 1971 and he has remained a profound influence on my spiritual journey. While he lived just down the road, as it were, until 1977, we met fairly often, usually magically. He was the very first member of my nonprofit foundation, Abundant Life Seed Foundation, which I directed until 1992; and have continued via my current sole-owned business ever since, as a native-seed producer/distributor.

Carol and I collaborated on the Shamcher Archive around 15 years ago, to make examples of his life work continually visible to all via the World Wide Web.
